We build happy communities, one student at a time.
Our vision at Tadasana is that our communities are filled with people who understand what happiness is and how to create it in their lives. We believe that the key to solving today’s ever-more-divided world is to first address the problems within.
Through yoga, and the practices that surround yoga, it is our mission to give you the tools you need to define happiness for yourself and to spread it throughout your community.
We practice Power Vinyasa yoga, a form of hatha yoga that flows with breath. Our studios are heated to get your muscles warmed up and leave your body feeling cleansed. Every Tadasana teacher brings the Five Pillars of a Tadasana Practice to their class: complete health, motion, athleticism, grit and focus. We offer a few variations on our core Power Vinyasa classes, including Yoga Sculpt, PowerJAM, Power Basics and Slow Flow for Athletes. You can learn more about these different class styles on our Classes page. Or go to the Schedule page to register for a class today.
The Five Pillars of a Tadasana Practice
The practice of yoga — unique among all physical fitness modalities — not only provides a path to significant improvements in physical health, but because of the focus on intention and purpose, also opens the doors to better mental and emotional health. The five pillars of the Tadasana practice ensure that each class offers you the opportunity to experience steps in your own growth.
At Tadasana, we seek to create a very specific type of happiness. Not the fleeting high that comes from a momentary activity, like buying a new pair of jeans. Instead, we’re looking for sustainable happiness that endures through the highs and the lows of life. We seek joy that comes from a sense of well-being, belonging and purpose. It is a combination of physical, mental and emotional vigor that we call complete health.
At Tadasana, we use motion to open the door to complete health. So many people are stuck. Like an object at rest, they remain at rest. But if they can get into motion, they can stay in motion and move forward. Motion is physical, but it’s also mental and emotional. Motion is what creates more satisfaction, contentment and happiness in your life. An atom that stops vibrating is dead; motion is essential for life.
As human beings, we are born with the ability to twist, turn, bend and reach. As we age and become sedentary, we give up these natural capabilities. But they can be regained and retained. At Tadasana, we refer to these physical ‘skills’ as altheticism. The Tadasana practice flows, moves, gets your heart rate up, and then gives you the chance to explore and to push yourself, so you can reclaim your natural athleticism.
At Tadasana, we also believe that happiness is an inside job. It’s something you create for yourself through your actions, decisions and beliefs. And it requires work. Just when you’re ready to stop, that’s the time to go a bit further. Change doesn’t happen from doing the same thing again and again. It happens when you challenge yourself to go to a new place. It takes grit. When you apply passion and perseverance, you re-wire the neural networks that once said, ‘I can’t,’ and create space for new possibilities.
Finally, we believe in the power of the mind. Thoughts become words, words become actions and actions become habits. To change your habits, you must change your mind. In order to change your mind, you must first know your mind. And knowing your mind requires focus. At Tadasana, we believe that the right physical practice creates the space for the mental clarity and emotional focus that will allow you to change the habits of your mind.
All five of these principles – complete health, motion, athleticism, grit and focus – are found in our classes at Tadasana. Tadasana creates a unique space that provides you with practices, tools, guidance, and support to find your happy. We hope you will join us in our mission.
